YMCA Swansea supports some of the most vulnerable young people in and around Swansea. They deliver life-saving and life-changing projects that work within the heart of the community to dramatically change and improve lives. During Pride Month we are focusing on their LGBTQ+ provision and in particular GoodVibes, an award-winning, pioneering, LGBTQ+ Youth Group. The majority of young people who engage with YMCA Swansea state that they have nowhere else to go, they offer not only a vital safe space but a source of hope, education and empowerment. We are delighted to be able to support them to continue their incredible work.
YMCA Swansea work with over 70 different organisations to provide a constellation of support for the community whilst delivering life-saving projects. They play an essential part in the wider community to both empower and represent young people. There is a vast amount of history tied up in their building and after 175 years Swansea still needs them and they are determined to not let us down!
GoodVibes is a weekly LGBTQ+ Youth Group for 11-25 year olds. It provides, for some, the only safe place where they can be their true, authentic selves. Members of the youth group state that GoodVibes has saved their lives, given them hope, increased their self-esteem and made them feel valid and empowered.
LUNA STUDIOS X HOOGAH
Here at Hoogah we strive for wellbeing, our ethos is for everyone to be able to come to the cafe and be able to slow down. It’s so easy to get wrapped up with how busy our lives can be, we have partnered up with jess from luna studios who has created a wonderful yoga class for everyone to take a moment for themselves and relax.
Some of the health benefits from doing yoga are improving your strength and balance, heart health and back pain relief. It can also improve your mood, stress management and even helps with better sleep patterns.
After a busy weekend, come and join us at Hoogah for a slow Sunday morning of yoga practice.
We will create a safe haven with dimmed lights, calming music, and candles to promote relaxation and well-being.
After an hour of practice, we will have a variety of drinks and breakfast options, including turmeric porridge and granola jar.
Come and join us for a peaceful Sunday morning!
Whether you're a beginner or an expert, we invite you to join us and build a vibrant and inspiring community.

PINT, PIZZA AND PRINT
The charity of the month that we will be supporting for the month of May is called Lajee (Lajee is Refugee in Arabic) which is a grassroots creative and cultural centre near Bethlehem.
The Lajee (refugee in Arabic) Centre is a community-based grassroots creative cultural centre that works with new generations of Palestinians as they continue their ongoing struggle for justice and rights for Palestine and all Palestinians. Projects range from Holistic, Health Support, a Gym, many summer camps for children and international visitors, a Hydroponic Garden and of course they host the kindergarten in their building.
Education is another essential resource that refugees in the West Bank struggle to access. Schooling options are underfunded, extremely overcrowded, out of reach, or do not meet a child's learning needs. Often children must pass through armed checkpoints just to get to school, with all the fear, trauma and humiliation this entails. The first phase of Zahrat Al Yasmeen is (Jasmine flower) Kindergarten, opened in 2021, was designed to address this.
They are raising funds to build a new classroom for Zahrat Al-Yasmeen Kindergarten, a community-run safe place for 3-5 year olds in Aida Refugee Camp, near Bethlehem. The Zahrat Al-Yasmeen approach is built around coping skills and working with the high stress and trauma levels Palestinian children have due to living under an illegal military occupation and suffering regular chemical weapons attacks from the nearby military base. The new classroom will offer 25 new places for teachers to guide and support children via a trauma-informed play-based programme centered on nature, art, drama, music, storytelling, cooking, dabke dancing, olive harvesting singing and puppetry.
if you’d like to contribute there is a go fund me link just below that will go directly to them

We are raising funds through this event to support the amazing work done by the kindergarten and its team.
We have partnered with the talented Menna from IAR Studios to help make this a fun and unique experience. She has created a workshop to teach you how to make a dry print using recycled tetra packs, it will follow by a pizza buffet and a pint of your choice.
