Hoogah charity bingo is back!! This time raising vital funds for Meningitis Research Foundation, the lovely Phoebe reached out to us with this incredible fundraiser that she’s doing and to help her out a little to achieve this goal we will have a fun night playing bingo with you all.
The aim of Meningitis Research Foundation is to have a world free from meningitis and septicaemia. Between 2021 and 2025 their goals are: enabling/funding research to allow scientists and researchers to better understand meningitis, its impacts and how to best treat it; to transform public and policy engagement in meningitis so that it becomes a global health priority so that more people are aware of signs and symptoms and see help sooner; they want to secure funding and profile so that the work can continue to progress; and to grow their capacity to deliver all their goals at scale and help and support as many people as possible globally. They want to defeat meningitis by 2030 and in 2020 WHO passed a resolution with that single goal as its focus.
To help raise funds to support the charity in reaching their goal, Phoebe is taking on the challenge of trekking to Everest Base Camp in August 2023. The size of the challenge is reflective in the amount of money she aims to raise - that target being £4000. She will be reaching altitudes of over 5000m and walking for over 9 hours a day for 2 weeks.
