August 2021 - Maggie’s Cancer Centre
Throughout August all proceeds from our charity pizza and cocktail specials will go towards Maggie’s Cancer Centre Swansea.
Maggie’s centres help people to take back control when cancer turns life upside down, with professional support for anything from treatment side effects to money worries. Maggie’s strive to be there for anyone with cancer, their family and friends, whatever kind of cancer, and whatever stage they’re at. All their support is free, and no appointment or referral is needed. There’s also no time limit on their support, they’re there as long as they are needed.
Maggie’s isn’t part of the NHS – they are an independent charity – but the centres are beside major cancer hospitals across the UK and have excellent relationships with partner hospitals. Centres also have psychologists and benefits advisors who are available for anyone with cancer and those close to them. Experts who provide exercise groups, yoga, nutrition advice and much more are present within centres too.
How does Maggie’s help?
Through their workshops, courses, one-to-one and group support they help people to change the way they live with cancer. Focusing on the things that really make a difference, like money worries, help with stress and depression, managing side-effects and relationship and family support. Support from those at Maggie’s has been shown to improve physical and emotional wellbeing and to help people take control when cancer turns life upside down.
On top of raising funds through our additional pizza and cocktail to the menu, we will be walking up Pen Y Fan on the 30th of August for sunrise, setting off from Hoogah around 3AM in order to get to the top for 6AM - we will be raising funds through our JustGiving page if you’d like to show your support.
